Frequently Asked Questions

More & more, I am experiencing people wanting to learn how to get healthy, stay healthy, and help others to do the same. I get a dozen of emails a week from friends & connections, old & new, sharing their personal healing stories with me, or asking for my guidance. Each comes bearing a gift of heart & friendship, of spirit & hope, of growth & renewal. ♥

I have since heard at least 100 aha! stories of when IINers saw their first program guide, and how all the pieces of their journeys perfectly threaded together, zooming right down to that very moment in time.

For me, back in 2007, with my new IIN program guide in hand, I dropped cross-legged style to my foyer floor, literally crying with relief ... because ironically, I had gotten myself both physically & mentally sick in my quest to make myself healthy.

And in precise & fateful timing, as only our perfect Universe can plan, along came the famous red IIN program guide into my life at just the needed moment. I remember turning the pages, amazed that such a school existed.

A school that promised to teach me a comprehensive holistic approach to not just nutrition, but a healthy lifestyle management, one where I could love myself completely & come to realize we are continuous evolutions ... and not beat myself up if my habits were different one day from the last.

I now can see that I had such a horrible, yucky relationship with food (eating disorders are more common amongst us than even we know of ourselves). Growing up on a SAD (Standard American Diet), I had no exposure up to that point of food awareness, never having learned the make-or-break medicine that food really is to our bodies ... or how certain foods affect each of us uniquely, and that it changes at different times of our lives. Or that what we eat, think & feel really does make us what we are from the inside out. Or how to respect our food & how it came to be on our plates. And like oh so many others, I was just so tired of spinning my wheels.

If you are connected to me on Facebook or LinkedIn (or other social networking sites), surely you have seen the tribe of fellow health-conscious IINers I walk alongside. Health awareness & LOVE is being spread to all corners of our big blue ball, and in all shapes & forms, thanks to our education at IIN.

The best part of all? As a student (and now a graduate, and IIN Ambassador), I learned that taking care of ME comes first. Because feeling good is not just about changing eating choices and habits: it is ALL about being empowered to change the way you think & feel about food, AND yourself.

IIN's Health Coach Training Program (HCTP) embraces nutritional concepts and theories, modern health issues, health counseling, healthy eating & living, primary foods, bio-individuality, self-awareness, and so much more!

By far, it's the only nutrition school in the world that teaches all the different dietary theories, from traditional to scientific; from east to west. You learn from world-renowned medical doctors, best-selling authors and gourmet chefs, including the legendary Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. John Douillard, famed raw foodist David Wolfe, Dr. Walter Willet, Debbie Ford, and many more.

The program at IIN is backed by sound scientific research and tons of happy, healthy success stories - and one of them is mine! Whether you're looking for a new, significant career as a Certified Holistic Health Coach (CHHC), want to reclaim your own health back, or simply coach others on how to make better nutritional choices ... I so much believe IIN can do for you what it did for me.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How Does IIN’s Online Program Work?

How is the online program set up?
Students receive a total of 40 modules. Each module is equivalent to about 1 morning or afternoon of the (previous) live class.

Students complete 1 module per week, which consist of lectures, downloadable handouts, online discussions, and related assignments found on the Online Education Forum (OEF).

Students also have an expanded dietary theory library, focus class library, and Fundamentals (Warm-Up Classes) on the OEF available to them.

How many hours can they expect to work per week?
In total, 5-8 hours/week, including all homework assignments.

How do students keep themselves on track if they're just at home with an iPod?
Students are given a detailed course schedule to help keep them on track with their requirements. Every 10 weeks there is a test and students must have completed the last 10 modules to be prepared. Each week, the weekly assignments are emailed as well as any material that goes along with it.

Can students begin the program at any time?
Yes! New students may enroll at any time. As soon as they enroll, they are sent a happy welcome package, including their books, and more! They can get started right away on their class OEF and listen to the Fundamental Classes on their iPod (these are similar to the Warm Up Program from the live class). The Core Curriculum (Modules) starts every few months so that students are on the same track as others in their class.

How do students get adequate support?
Once a month, students have the opportunity to join an optional open session led by the Integrative Nutrition staff. They can ask questions, discuss the online course experience, get support, hear the experiences of other students, and be inspired and motivated by their community of peers.

Students also get support from their assigned Health Coach, from staff, and from other students through discussions on the OEF. If they have a specific question for staff that they need help with right away, there is a "Student Support" section on their online student dashboard where they can connect with IIN staff on an ongoing basis.

During the previously held live classes, I heard that alumni connected with so many students and learned more from them than anything else. How is this possible with an online class?
Online students seek each other out and create local study groups, local potluck groups and more! IIN has made significant improvements to the Online Education Forum and it is more user friendly than ever. Students can look one another up in a Student Directory and are highly encouraged to connect in various discussion forums. Students are also provided detailed study group outlines, which help them to create their own study groups and connect. In addition, IIN will continue to host live events every year so that students have the opportunity to meet up in a live setting.

What are the graduation requirements?
* Attend 5 (of 8) scheduled phone sessions with a health coach
* Pass 4 out of 4 tests (70% or above)
* Complete and submit 6 Health Histories
* Have paid off entire tuition

What if students have to miss a week or two?
That is perfectly fine. They may work at their own pace as long as they are caught up every 10 weeks for the tests and are able to fulfill all other requirements.
